1. Scope

This technical specification defines the requirements, performance criteria, test methods, and general characteristics of pre-terminated fiber optic cables compliant with IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) and Telecorida standards. It applies to various types of pre-terminated fiber optic cables for indoor, outdoor, and indoor/outdoor applications, covering multimode and single-mode fiber configurations.

3. General Requirements

3.1 Construction

• The pre-terminated fiber optic cable shall consist of optical fibers, buffer, strengthening member (if applicable), jacket, and factory-installed connectors.

• Fibers shall be properly protected by buffers and jackets to prevent mechanical damage and environmental degradation.

• Connectors shall be securely terminated, polished, and tested at the factory to ensure consistent performance.

3.2 Material Requirements

• Optical fibers shall meet the requirements of IEC 60793 series for respective fiber types (multimode OM3, OM4; single-mode OS2).

• Jacket materials shall be compatible with the intended application (indoor/outdoor) and meet fire safety requirements of IEC 60332 series. Common materials include PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride), LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen), and PE (Polyethylene).

• Strengthening members (if used) shall provide sufficient tensile and crush resistance. Materials may include steel or aramid yarns.

• Connector materials shall be corrosion-resistant and comply with IEC 61754 series.

3.3 Environmental Performance

• The cable shall operate within the specified temperature range as defined in Section 4.2, maintaining optical and mechanical performance.

• Outdoor and indoor/outdoor cables shall be resistant to water, UV radiation, and moisture penetration.

• Jackets shall be resistant to abrasion, chemicals, and other environmental factors relevant to the application.

6. Quality Assurance
